Character Actor Lew Temple at the Grove

A few hours after I spotted James Ransone at the Coffee Bean, I had another Celebrity Sighting at the Grove shopping center in Los Angeles. Character Actor Lew Temple best known to me for a small role in Rob Zombie's classic, "The Devil's Rejects" and recently in Tony Scott's "Unstoppable". With so many credits on IMDB most of you were bound to see him in one flick or another. One of those actors that you say, "I have seen this guy in so many films, but I do not know his name..." Well now you do!

Ziggy from: "The Wire"

Spotted James Ransone from HBO's " The Wire' gettin' a couple of iced coffees from The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf on Melrose yesterday. I was typing away, hardly at work, and I look up and as per Dick Hollywood's keen "Never Forgets a Face" super power, I recognized him, but could remember which Film or TV show I had seen him. Took me about 5 minutes to recall and I quickley verified the celebrity sighting by checking IMDB.

Larry King at Nate 'n Al

My weekly Sunday Morning breakfast trip led me today to Nate 'n Al. A family owned 64 year old Deli, and a Beverley Hills institution. A guy in the booth next to me was going over his Sunday Football picks and he mentioned to the Waitress that he was going to go with the Raiders because Larry just said he should.

Now being Dick Hollywood , I knew that Larry King frequented this establishment from word of mouth and the fact that his name is on one of the breakfast dishes,(LARRY KING MATZO BREI). So as I looked around I sighted him and his wife and a couple of friends all enjoying their breakfast two booths to the left of me.

You can always count on the good old Beverly Hills shopping district for some great people watching and the occasional Celebrity Sighting!

2 Celebrity Sightings at BOA Steakhouse on Sunset

Last night Ms. Vaughn Karman and I decided to get some happy hour drinks and apps at BOA Steakhouse on Sunset. Boa has become one of the 'IN' spots for the Celebs to come out and be seen especially on the weekends and last night was no exception. Even if no celebrities did show up, we knew it would be fun people watching at least. But about a half an hour into our food and drinks I spotted Celebrity Chef and Reality TV Host Gordon Ramsay with his family. They Hurried past the bar to their table and I pointed him out to Ellora, but she did not know who he was. Spotting Celebs is what Dick Hollywood does and is very good at ; ) Mr Ramsay is the Host of shows, "Hell's Kitchen" and "Kitchen Nightmares"

A few minutes later I noticed multiple flashes going off outside, so I looked to see who the Paparazzi were bugging as he walked in... Well it was none other than David Spade. I pointed him out to Ellora and she giggled as he walked through the doors and went straight to his table. He seems to frequent the place, cause when I did a quick Google for him, I found some footage of him leaving BOA a week or two ago.

Harry Potter Sighting

OK so a few weeks back I was at the Arclight Cinemas in Hollywood. As I was checking out the show times I noticed a familiar looking fellow walking past me. He looked very familiar to me and I did a double take... Well it was indeed Harry Potter! Not Daniel Radcliffe the actual actor who plays Harry Potter, but it was Kevin McDonald from "The Kids in the Hall" fame, and of course you all do know that he played Harry Potter in the comedy spoof film Epic Movie!

OK so I tricked you... So What! It is still a very good Star Sighting.

In the Desert

well it is fucking hot in the desert and sometimes i have to go out there to work... a few months ago i was working out there close to the Empire Polo Fields where the Cochella Music Festival is held every year. At the end of the night we went for drinks at the Tack Room Tavern on the Empire Polo Club premises. While sipping on my beer and watching a the Baseball Playoffs i sighted a craggy looking older gentleman with a very recognizable face. it took me a few minutes to figure out who it was, but it finally came to me... it was none other than William Devane. an actor with numerous credits to his name and still earning a living from movies and television. hell, even in the desert i can spot them!

Back in LA!

Well, it has been quite awhile since my last post. I moved back home to San Francisco and there was no Star Sightings to be sighted and posted. I thought that I Left My Heart in San Francisco, but realized that I Love LA!

So... My very first night back a few weeks ago i was going to meet up with Ellora at one of usual spots for wine and munchies, Le Pain Quotidien in West Hollywood. As I approached the restaurant I sighted none other than Actress Minnie Driver sitting with a friend, facing the street and sharing conversation and some wine... I found Ellora sitting at another table around the corner and mentioned the Star Sighting to her right away. Unfortunately Minnie was sitting around the corner from us, so Ellora was unable to verify, but with my keen sense of Star Sight, I can verify 100% that it was Minnie Driver.

It's great to be back in LA!

Reality Celebrity Star Sightings come in Threes....

Reality Sighting #1: The Ellora sighting from the last post of Johnny Fairplay from Survivor.

Reality Sighting #2: Walking home one night from work in Beverly Hills, I noticed a bunch of people taking photos of some blonde in a Range Rover. She was stopped at a light on Canon and Little Santa Monica. There was a guy standing next to the car with his arm reaching in the window draping around this girl, like hey were good rinds at a party. Onlookers form the sidewalk snapping multiple photos. No Paparazzi were around that I could see. All of this was going on as I was crossing in the crosswalk. Who could this girl be that was getting so much attention? I stopped at the corner to try and see who it was. The light turned green and she pulled closer. It happened to be none other than Reality TV Star,Actress,Rapper,Socialite Heiress, Paris Hilton. Too Funny!

Reality Sighting #3: Ellora and I were meeting friends at Mirabelle for a couple of drinks and Apps. Standing by the Bar, I noticed a couple walking up to the Restaurant. He had really bad hair and looked like he had just come from the gym and she looked like a stereotypical Beverly Hills Woman with the beginnings of too much plastic surgery... Just before we walked to Mirabelles, we were flipping the channels at home and came across Dr. 90210. She had never seen it and I had glanced at it once or twice. I made the couple out to be one of the Doctors from the show and his wife. It was Dr. Robert Rey the martial arts enthusiast... He looked sillier in person than on the show.

I guess Reality TV Star Sightings really do come in threes...

Ellora Sightings

Ellora occasionally spots celebrities around town when she is on her own. Theses sightings are unverifiable by moi, so I have to take her word and so will you. These sightings will be called Ellora Sightings.

She recently was shopping at Whole Foods for her dinner and while standing in line she noticed a blonde curly haired guy arguing with his girlfriend behind her. Now celebrity come in all shape and sizes and classifications. With the advent of Reality TV, these wannabe TV stars are recognized by many people, myself included. Well if you a fan of Survivor as I am, you would be excited to see Jonny "Fairplay" Dalton form Survivor: Pearl Islands. He cam in third place and no one and I mean no one has out-lied him since...

Driving to Urth Caffe in Beverly Hills, I glance over to the driver of a silver Mercedes Benz SUV. It was a quick glance but long enough to notice that it was an unshaven-aviator-sunglasses-wearin' real life Movie Star...

Stan the Man

A couple of weeks ago as I was walking to work I noticed a group of people walking towards me. They were all listening to an gregarious and animated (pun intended) older gentleman. The man was immediately recognizable to me, since I am a comic book geek. He was none other than Stan "the Man" Lee, the creator of Spider-Man, Daredevil, the Fantastic Four, the Incredible Hulk just to name a few. He is a Legend in the comic industry and it was fun to see him outside of a Comic Book convention...

The Ivy

Went to the Ivy with Ellora and my Dad for my 39th Birthday. We sat outside on the Patio with a great view of the people coming and going. A guy who was dining alone looked very familiar and when he exited there was two autograph hounds who asked for his John Hancock. I recognized him as Captain Adam Fuller from 21 Jump Street. His name is Steven Williams and has over 50 credits to his name. As we were leaving my Dad went to look around inside the Restaurant to see what it looked like and he swears that he sighted Roscoe Orman who has played Gordon from Sesame Street from 1974 to present. He then said that he saw "that child actor that stopped making films and then made a come back years later on Hill Street Blues. I could not think of who he meant and then it hit me he was talking about NYPD Blue and Little Ricky Schroder... uhhh, I mean Rick Schroder.

Good food and good sightings!

Car Sightings

Car Sight-ing: A sighting of a celebrity either:

A. From a car (Ellora or I someone while driving in our cars.)
B. Into a car (Ellora or I spot a celebrity in a car.)

A few weeks ago we were driving on Melrose in the shopping area and we saw what appeared to be a crazy homeless man yelling at someone or something. Someone was filming him with a video camera. I took a close look at the man and made it out to be a well known character actor Glenn Plummer. Best known to me as Pernell, a character in Menace II Society.

Past Car Sightings include:

1. Vincent Gallo: Waving and pulling in front of us on Beverly Blvd.
2. Conan O'Brien: Almost hitting us as he pulled into traffic onto Beverly Blvd.
3. Richard Lewis: Driving on Fairfax in his Mercedes.
4. Richard Dreyfuss: Years ago with Beach. He was driving in a convertable on Sunset Blvd and he waved to us.
5. Jennifer Lopez: Ellora spotted her driving in her bigass SUV.
6. Kirsten Dunst: Parking he BMW X5 in front of Urth Caffe.
7. Larry King: I was driving down Santa Monica and he was crossing the street at Rodeo Dr.
8. Keanu Reeves: Walking down Sunset Blvd near the Chateau Marmont.
9. Christina Ricci and Adam Goldberg: Walking a dog on Sunset.
10. Jamie Lee Curtis: Driving her car near Rodeo Dr. Sighted her with my dad.

Gram Rabbit Rocks

Went to the Echo a couple of nights ago with E and Brooke to see the band Gram Rabbit. They rocked! Really fun show and excellent showmanship. As we were waiting for the 2nd band of the night to come on, I looked around the crowd, I noticed a guy who looked like Long Duk Dong from the 80's teen flick Sixteen Candles. E and I were just talking about the film and that character just a few days before. I was going to joke with her that Long Duk Dong was standing right behind her and then I took a look again and realized that it really was Long Duk Dong! Well actually Gedde Watanabe the actor who played him, but he will always be Long Duk Dong to me...

The Sunset Strip

I was driving back from the Burbank Airport driving home on Sunset Blvd. I looked over at a few people walking a dog near the Argylle Hotel. I could tell the guy was Indie Actor Adam Goldberg. I had read somewhere that he was dating Christina Ricci and when I took a closer look at the girl he was walking the dog with, I verified that it was her. She is tiny... Celebrity Star Sighting on the Sunset Strip!

Seeing Stars on the Streets of Beverly Hills

Ellora joined me on my lunch break a couple of weeks ago in Beverly Hills. We stopped for an espresso at the Euro Cafe. On our way back to work, I noticed Andre Braugher one of the stars of the Television Series, "Homicide: Life on the Street", sitting at another cafe having a conversation with somebody that I did not recognize.

Movie Star Sighting on the job...

So I work in an office with a Casting Director who shares office space with us. There are many actors and actresses that come into the office for auditions. Most of them are unknowns, but there are many Celebrities, old and new that come through the door. I did not want to mention them since it is not a "Real World" Star Sighting, but there have been many fun ones that my Star Sighting fans and readers deserve know about.

Today they were holding taped auditions for a low-budget Western, so a few well known Character Actors came into read for various parts. First came in Jonathan Banks. A very familiar looking Character Actor in many movies.

Next there was John Doe. Lead singer of the Los Angeles Punk band X and probably best know for playing the Father of Liz Parker on the Television Series Roswell.

Geoffrey Lewis. Father of Juliette. Character Actor extraordinaire, in over 100 movies. I remember him best as playing Dr. Carter in the 80's Cult Film "Night of the Comet".

And then a really cool star sighting. I mean, I had this guy's Lunch Box as a kid. I had his doll. He was my hero. He was the Six million Dollar Man! He is Lee Majors. Looking pretty good for a young man just about to turn 66 in April.

Once a Celebrity Star Sighter always a Celebrity Star Sighter.

Sunset Strip's Book Soup Celebrity Sighting

Walking off my Taco Hell Burrito, Ellora and I went to Book Soup for a little light reading and browsing the film section. As I was paying for a magazine, a couple of guys walk into the store and right away a recognize Robert Sean Leonard. I remember him best as the guy who commits suicide in Peter Weir's, "Dead Poets Society". He currently can be seen in the new Television Drama, "House, MD" I love living and Star Sighting in LA...

As we were making our way to the Yogurt section, I spotted "Six Feet Under's" Father, Richard Jenkins strolling down the cereal aisle. I pointed him out to Ellora and we both reminisced about our Thanksgiving weekend marathon viewing of season 2 on DVD...

Sandra Bullock sighted in Beverly Hills...

Sitting here watching Reservoir Dogs with Ellora and do to much pressure from the fans of the Blog and Ellora, after two months of ignoring this writing down nothing, I now have many Star Sightings to report. So here goes:

Last Wednesday at the Magic Castle I spied Character Actor J.K. Simmons best know as J. Jonah Jameson in the Spider-Man films.

Earlier that day, Ellora and I were doing some shopping at the Beverly Hills Crate and Barrell. As we were walking in, we both sighted Sandra Bullock leaving the store with an older woman. Ellora thought that she looked very good.

Then last Sunday, Ellora and I go out to brunch with our friends Scott and Catherine to Le Pain. As we are waiting for a table, we notice Sandra Bernhard and her girlfriend walking out. Then while we are waiting for our food to arrive, I spot Jerry O'Connel (the fat kid from Stand By Me) and his new gal pal Rececca Romain Stamos... Oops I mean Rebecca Romaine. Then if that wasn't enough Star Sighting for one morning, I also notice Walton Goggins, Michael Chiklis' partner on the Sheild. Whoooo... that's alot of Star Sightings in a couple of hours!

Television Talk Show Host Conan O'brien tried to run us down!

It has been 2 months since my last celebrity sighting BLOG and for some reason I got lazy and did not finish all of my blogging. The very next night after seeing EG Daily at the Book Soup News Stand, Ellora and I were driving down Beverly Blvd when a Volvo cut into traffic and almost side-swiped us. Thanks to my quick reflexes, I was able to avoid a near collision. When we both looked over at the driver we immediatly knew that it was Conan O'Brien. First there was Hal "Barney Miller" Linden (Long Story), and now Conan. Coiencidence? I Think Not!

Then the following day I Star Sighted a young actor Chris Owen from American Pie shopping with a friend at Tower Records on Sunset. I Sight them as I seem them.

Then a dry spell...

And just the other day in a deli on Beverly in Beverly Hills, I noticed Indie Cult Actress/Writer/Director and Hal Hartley's muse Adrienne Shelly. Damn, I'm good...

Television & Movie Star Sightings come in 3's

So my friends Catie and Paul came for a visit and on the day that they were leaving, i took them to Urth Caffe for breakfast. As we were walking up, I spotted a familar looking face.. It was character actor Jeff Kober , who is best known China Beach. Not a huge star sighting, but a recognizable star none the less...

Ellora (the Artist formerly known as Dee Dee) was at a cafe, go figure, when she noticed someone who looked like one of the daughters on Rosanne. When she got home, she asked me what her nam is, and I said that she probably sighted Sara Gilbert. I showed her a pic and she verified that was who she saw...

Ellora and I wanted to check out the happs at the Paris Hilton book signing that was going on up the street from us at Book Soup. We walked up our SF type hill and noticed a long line of people wating to get their book signed. Across the street next to Tower Records were about 30 protesters, protesting Paris Hilton. It was quite odd. They were chanting slogans like, "Don't buy her book, she has enough money". Come On! what a silly protest... Well we noticed this small mother and daughter. The mother had really short shorts and Ugg boots. She looked familar, but I could not place her, then one of the Papparazzi noticed her and asked if she could take her photo. I heard her call her EG, and then I realized it was EG Daily. Best know for playing Pee Wee's girlfriend in Pee Wee's Big Adventure and being the voice of Buttercup, one of the Power Puff Girls...

Just when I thought that it had been way too long for a Star Sighting, we get three for the price of one...

A night of Magic and Celebrity Star Sightings

So, I was at the Magic Castle a couple of weeks ago with my friend Ruben. As we were walking downstairs to catch the late act in the Close-Up Room, I passed to young guys moving briskly to either the Palace or Parlour Theater. I quickly recognized them both. One of the guys, Seth Rogen, was from the excellent short-lived TV shows Freaks and Geeks and Undeclared. The other guy, Jay Baruchel, was the Star of Undeclared. A night of Magic and Star Sightings.

Then about a week later, Dee Dee and I went to see a play Red Light, Green Light at the
theater of NOTE. A guy and a gal sat next to us. As they were mingling around, I mentioned to Dee Dee that I knew the girl or had seen her somewhere before. Well, I had. I just saw her in a small role in Spider-Man 2. She played Peter Parkers Apartment Landlord's Daughter. She is a young actress/model named Mageina Tovah. Again, I must say that I sight them as I see them...

Cult Film Director at Book Soup.

Last Monday while browsing around in Book Soup I noticed a slender eccentric looking fellow with a pencil thin mustache. He was browsing the aisles as well. I could not get a good view of him, but I was pretty sure I knew that mustache. As he was leaving he walked by me and smiled. It was none other than Cult Fave Director, John Waters. I think he was giving me the eye.

Then on Tuesday, I was in 20/20 Video on La Brea and Sunset, waiting for Dee Dee while she was getting a haircut, and I sighted Michelle Rodriguez star of Girlfight, S.W.A.T and more... Dee Dee saw her and said she would have never recognized her. That is why I am the Star Sighter of the Family.

And then while looking around Golden Apple Comics, I spot a guy who hung out here over 12 years ago (the first time I lived in LA). He is a big big guy who got his start on the under appreciated Parker Lewis Can't Lose . Since then he has gone onto bigger things. Most notably ER. He is none other than Abraham Benrubi, Jerry the big guy who admits the patients on ER.

So Many Celebrity Star Sightings, so little time.

So, let me start with the usual Star Sightings at Hollywood's 24HR Fitness. This cast of characters seem to pop up from time to time when Dee Dee and I are there. These happen to be double and triple sightings. Jason Priestly who we have seen a few times, saunters in with a blonde woman. He is sporting a handle bar mustache and moves next to the bench where Dee Dee is working out. Within the same week, I spot Actor/Director Bill Duke and Actor Willie Garson doing their usual workout.

One Sat morning, I needed coffee as I searched yard sales for books, I stopped into Urth Caffe for the first time in months. Waiting for my caffeine fix, I spot SuperModel/Actress James King standing in line and looking just as tired as the rest of us.

While meeting Dee Dee at her new cafe to park and drive to the gym together, I notice Academy Award winner Best actor for the Pianist, Adrien Brody sitting and eating with some woman outside of the Swingers Diner. I tell Dee Dee about it and we drive back to see if he is still there. When we get back there, he has already moved on. Oh well...

While working on a Commercial for Overstock.com, I was picking up some coffee at Starbucks on Larchmont Street. I spot actor Michael Rapaport sitting on the outside and having some ice cream with is young son.

And last Star Sighting in today's blog, while walking down the street in Beverly Hills with Dee Dee and friends, I see some young guy looking at our group and probably Checking out the girls. I realize that it is Jason Schwartzman. He is talking with an older woman that I assume is his mother. Jason is best known for starring in the films Rushmore and Spun. Not to mention that he is the nephew of Francis Ford Coppola and cousin of Nicolas Cage.

Actor, Writer, Director, Vincent Gallo waved at us!

A week ago on Thursday Dee Dee and I went to an art opening at the Gagosian. The show was JEAN PROUVÃ / CHARLOTTE PERRIAND : 20th Century Furniture & Architecture. Held on a Thursday night the usual eccentric crowd filled up the building. As we left the show, I noticed Actor/Director Peter Berg enter the Gallery. I remember him best from his days on Chicago Hope.

My Dad and his wife Lucille drove down for the weekend for a visit and some early B-Day celebrating for me. They took Dee Dee and I to the Palm restaurant for dinner on Friday and we hoped that they would be able to spot someone with us as well. No such luck. But on Sunday they took us to see Mama Mia at the Pantages Theater in Hollywood. Sitting in front of us was a character actor that both my dad and I recognized, but neither of us could remember what we had seen him in, or for that matter his name. Dee Dee heard his wife call him Sam. I will figure it out someday... As we exited the play we were milling around the front of the building and my Dad recognized an older gentleman who he thought was Actor/Singer Ed Ames and I agreed that I thought it was him, but then my Dad hit the nail on the head and exclaimed that it was none other than ex Football Quarterback and Oakland Raiders Coach Tom Flores. He was right!

A couple of days ago Dee Dee and I were running around town doing errands. We were caught in traffic on Beverly Blvd near the Beverly Center. Dee Dee decided to let a guy in a nice looking Volvo-like station wagon pull into traffic in front of her. The driver waved and Dee Dee said that he looked like Vincent Gallo . I noticed that it was really him and stated, " it really is Vincent Gallo ". Too cool. I am a big fan of his work and music and Dee Dee thinks he is a cool Artist and sexy to boot...

And last Star Sighting but not least... I was shopping at 99 Cents Only and I noticed thisfamiliarr looking guy checking out coffee mugs. I had only a side few shot of him, but he turned my way and knew right away that it was one of my favorite actors of the70'ss and 80's, Steve Railsback. This guy played one of thecreepiestt version of Charlie Manson in a Mini Series entitled Helter Skelter. He was amazing along side of Peter O'toole in the Cult Film, The Stunt Man. And he played one of my all time favorite Guest characters on the X-Files, Duane Barry. Very cool Star Sighting and in a 99 Cents Only store no less...

Whatever Happend to Actress Lori Petty?

Ok ok so I have been lax in my blogging duties as of late, so here ya go...

This is how Sick I am or how good I am, depending on how you look at it...

A couple of weeks I accompanied Dee Dee to the Post Office. She was shipping some items out for her Ebay Business. While standing in line, I noticed a familiar looking face. A least it was familiar to me. I knew he was an Actor from Angel, but I did not know his name. I knew he played one of the Lawyers from Wolfram and Hart, the evil Law offices of the demon horde or something like that. I searched around the web in fan sites and found out that it was Jason Winer and he had a load of cash with him. It's good to be a working actor.

The next day Dee Dee and I went to see our friend Catie at The Fashion Co-Op. She was working a booth with her friend Stephanie and selling Stephanie B Handbags. There was a booth we spotted selling clothes from Lori Petty's clothing line Lawd Knows. She was not there the first time we walked around, but on a second pass, we spotted her all disheveled and looking inconspicuous, but it was her...

Today I was walking into Virgin Records as I Star Sighted Jason Bateman exiting with a bag of goodies.

Then just a little later, as I walking into Meltdown Comics and Collectibles and I notice a tall man wearing all black with ultra crazy white hair. I am a huge fan of his films and recognized Director Jim Jarmusch right away. He has been in town promoting his latest film Coffee and Cigarettes.

All in all some pretty good Star Sightings if I do say so myself...

Television's Fred Savage is all grown up.

Well last week I went to the Gym in Hollywood again. Saw Willie Garson again and even though I had not spotted a star in awhile, I kind of didn't want to resort to Blogging a Second Time Star Sighting. Well there was Willie changing in the men's room and for all of you who want to know what kind of underwear he wears, will have to wait until the next time I see him, because I left the locker room before I could find out. :)

Then a couple of days later as I was driving to Cinefile Video to pick up a movie for the 1st Dick & Dee Dee's MicroCinema Flick Fest, I noticed a frail looking older gentleman walking briskly in the crosswalk at the corner of Rodeo and Santa Monica. He looked a lot like Gollum. It was none other than famed talk show host Larry King. He looks weirder in person than he does on TV. Oh well a good Star Sighting none-the-less.

Then later that night Dee Dee and I went for drinks at the Palm. As we drank our wine, I noticed a young couple walk in. It was Fred Savage, the Wonder Years kid all grown up.

So, three Star Sightings in two days. Not bad, not bad at all...

Actors Shop at Whole Foods

A couple of days ago while shopping at Whole Foods Market with Dee Dee, I spotted a woman who looked familiar to me. I told Dee Dee that I thought it was the Actress who had a vehicular manslaughter charge against her a few years ago. I could not think of her name at first, but then it hit me: Rebecca Gayheart.

I mentioned her name to Dee Dee and we looked her up when we got home to verify. Maybe not a big Star, but a Star Sighting none-the-less...

That Kid From Television's Rosanne spotted Pool Side at the Standard, West Hollywood

Today Dee Dee and I went to the Standard to meet our friend Kris Kinney for a drink. Out by the pool, sipping our $12 Mojitos ( I do not think there was any Rum in them) I spot Johnny Galecki, one of the stars of the Rosanne show. You know, he played Darlene's (Sara Gilbert) boyfriend on the show for many years. He was waiting and waiting to get served, but to no avail. He finally had to get up and tell someone that him and his gal friend needed a couple of drinks to go with their smokes...

Always fun at the Standard. Except for the lack of Rum of course!

That kid from the Movie the Sandlot...

Two days ago, Driving back from the Costco in Burbank, Dee Dee and I were caught in a traffic jam. Yeah go figure a traffic jam in LA. Well we had just past Warner Bros Studio on Barham and I look over at the car next to us. Driving the car was this red-headed kid that was extremely recognizable to me. "Hey that's the kid from the Sandlot! I did not know his name, so I did a quick search when I got home and found out that it was this actor named Patrick Renna. I spot'em as I see them...

That cool French Actor from S.W.A.T.

Walking home from a the Kings Road Cafe, Dee Dee and I walked past one of Dee Dee's fav restaurants, Le Pain Quotidien . Sitting on the deck and drinking some coffee was Olivier Martinez best known for playing the bad guy in S.W.A.T. and Diane Lane's lover in Unfaithful .

I did a double take and mentioned the star sighting to Dee Dee. We went into the the restaurant to pick up some organic preserves. Dee Dee got a look at him and told me she recognized as well.

Young Scotish Actor in Hollywood Blockbuster!

After a relaxing morning reading and drinking coffee at Urth with Dee Dee and not seeing a glimpse of even one Star, we head out to run some errands and go to the gym. We get to the gym around noon and notice that it is way too crowded for our taste, so we turn around and walk back to our car. In the garage Dee Dee pulls on my sweater and whispers, " isn't that the Scottish guy from Lord of the Rings?" I looked at this short young hipster with his girlfriend and told her that I thought it was Merry not Pippin the Scottish one. Upon exiting the garage an image of Pippin came to my head and I realized that Dee Dee was correct. It was Pippin or should I say Billy Boyd .

Cool sighting. An actor that is in not one but two Best Picture Oscar nominated films tomorrow! Lord of the Rings and Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World...

All around Great Star Sighting! Thanx Dee Dee...

The Magic Castle

Last night Dee Dee and I went to the Magic Castle with our friends. At the end of the night as we are listening to Irma, "an invisible, ghostly piano player [who] will play almost any tune you can think of, and answers your questions in humorous song." Across the bar being entertained by one of the many strolling Magicians was Alex Kingston of ER fame. She was gasping aloud in disbelief at the trick she was seeing.

The Magic Castle is always fun and there is always a chance for some good Star Sightings. Just to give you an idea, last year we spotted Cheryl Hines who plays Mrs. Larry David on the funniest Sitcom around Curb Your Enthusiasm.

I recognize him right off and point him out to Dee Dee. She tells me he is a regular and sees him in here all the time, but had no idea who he was. It takes a true Star Sighter to make Star Sightings of B list Actors...

Actress Meg Ryan Sitting in the Cafe

Dee Dee and I walk into the cafe and stand in line for our coffee. She spots Meg Ryan sitting with her son and eating some morning grub. Sporting sunglasses and trying not to be noticed, I glance her way to check out the work she has had on her face. Her lips seem bigger and her skin more taut... I met her years ago when my friend Jerm and I were PA's on the film When a Man Loves a Woman. Went out drinking and dancing with her and others, but I don't think she would remember me, so I decide not to bother her.

While sipping my coffee, I spot Jason Statham waiting in line for his morning fix. Jason was one of the stars of Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels , his first film...

Yes the cafe was Urth Caffe again. It seems you can't go wrong at Urth, if you are Star Sighting.

2 days ago Dee Dee and I were "Walking in LA" by the Big Blue Whale when we spotted walking towards none other than Byron Allen. Come on! You have to remember Byron Allen, one of the stars of the hit TV series Real People. Well Dee Dee and I do...

Yesterday while shopping at Amoeba Records I spotted Kate Hudson's Hubby, lead singer of the Black Crowes, Chris Robinson. He was shopping away for new CD's as well.

Then today, I had a lunch at Mo's in Burbank and spotted sittin' and eatin' in the window veteran TV and Film character actor Len Lesser best known to most as Uncle Leo on TV's Seinfield.

Pretty good week...

Young Hollywood Lovers

It's Friday and Dee Dee drags my lazy ass out of bed. I have had enough sleep, but my allergies tell me different. We head down to Urth around 9:30a. On the drive there we see Nicholas Brendon from Buffy, crossing the street with some girl. Again, I think it is either Brendon or his twin brother. Supposedly they look alike. It is a warm sunny day and the place is packed with Hollywood Hipsters... We stand in line to order our daily fix of caffeine. I notice a James Dean looking guy sitting with some gal pal in the corner of he cafe. Trying not to stare too much, I recognize this guy. His name is James Franco. He played Harry Osborn in Spiderman. In fact he even played James Dean in a cable movie and he was one of the stars of the TV series Freaks and Geeks, a short lived but very good show.
Walking to our table outside I notice Jake Gyllenhaal again. He is sitting by himself looking very sporty. When James comes out they chat it up. Jake's girlfriend Kirsten Dunst, and James are in Spiderman and Spiderman 2 together. Kirsten parks her BMW SUV and strolls to Jake's table. She is looking pretty sporty as well. They are the sporty couple. Dee Dee is pretty sure that Jake was totally giving her the look and checking her out. At least that is what she tells me...

As we are leaving I notice Carla Cugino and her husband. She played the mother in the Spy Kids franchise. This is the second time we have seen her. She must live in the neighborhood...

80's Teen Movie Actress seen at Urth Caffe.

Last Sunday we find ourselves once again at Urth Caffe. Saturday night we threw ourselves a "One Year Later House Warming Cocktail Party", and the next morning Dee Dee took me to breakfast at Urth for a Hang Over breakfast. My usually keen Star Sighting senses were a little slow, but I did immediately spot an actress who is best known for a handful of rolls from the 80's. Her name is Roxana Zal and she starred in such films as Rivers's Edge, Testament, and the TV movie Something about Amelia.

We sat there and ate our food, talked, read our books and people watched for about an hour. We only had one Star Sighting, but enjoyed ourselves none the less.

SNL Celebrity sipping coffee.

Went with Dee Dee this morning to Urth Caffe for some stars and coffee. Sat down with my book and a small Rude Awakening. Spotting Will Ferrell walking by me to order his breakfast and coffee. Inside Dee Dee spotted Lori Loughlin ,best known from TV's Full House, sitting inside with a friend. I pointed her out months ago at Urth to Dee Dee and now she recognizes her. My friends and I stalked her years ago when she was filming a TV movie, (Brotherhood of Justice) at our High School, Aptos High. My friend Beach from Freakshow.com can attest to this fact. Brotherhood was an early film with Keanu Reeves and Kiefer Sutherland. But that is another story...

On another note, Dee Dee had noticed an actress from Melrose Place a couple of weeks ago, but she could not figure out which cast member she was. Last night we were going to get a coffee at, you guessed it, Urth Caffe, and we saw this Melrose Place actress walking out of the Bodhi Tree Bookstore. She realized the character she played and we found out it was Kelly Rutherford who played Megan Lewis Mancini McBride. Sheesh! Say that name 10 times fast...

Norm from Television's Cheers Sighted at Da Palm!

Dee Dee and I wanted to get a drink after 8 hours errands and shopping. We decided to go to Dan Tana's on Santa Monica Blvd for a couple of drinks. The bar was packed so we walked down a couple of blocks closer to home to see what the Palm was like... Noticing George Wendt sitting at the bar in the front window spurred me on to get up close and personal with Norm from Cheers. The bar was fun and lively. People coming and going to their tables for dinner. George was throwing back gin and beer just like his much loved character. After a couple of drinks and sharing a tiramisu, Dee Dee and I called it a night.

Actors come in pairs...

During our daily routine, Dee Dee and I went to Urth Caffe this morning. Urth has always been a prime spot to stargaze... Last week we saw Jake Gyllenhaal and his gal pal Kirsten Dunst chatting over eggs and coffee. This morning It was not looking like we would see anybody, but then walked up Billy Zane. Just hangin' with a friend and soaking up the sun.

We then made our way over to the Hollywood 24 Hour Fitness to work out, which happens to be another good place to spot movie and TV stars. Just last week we noticed Jeremy Sisto, who plays Billy on HBO's Six Feet Under. Today I recognized Nicholas Brendon, none other than Xander from the Cult TV show Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Well I have been told that he has a twin brother, but I am pretty sure that it was him.

One of Hollywood's Hottest Celebrity Couples

My girlfriend Dee Dee and I stopped in a neighborhood bar on Melrose. It recently re-opened with a new name, Monroe's. We took a seat upstairs with our $12 dollar Margaritas and watch the crowd grow in anticipation of the band the Dirty Knobs. Mike Cambell of Tom Petty's Heartbreakers side project. We just stumbled upon this place after visiting some open galleries in the neighborhood. I looked up and Noticed Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore with a couple of friends make their way to a back booth and begin to smoke some cigs. About an hour later I went up to the group told Ashton that I noticed him smoking earlier asked him if I could bum a cigarette off him. He told me no problem and gave me a cigarette. Funny thing is that I don't even smoke.

By the way Ashton smokes Lucky Strike Brand Cigarettes. And Demi was sporting pigtails, looking younger a lot smaller than I imagined.
